As Week #6 of the GTTSC VI competition draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to look back at all the action from Week #5. Let’s recap who won, who survived, and who got wiped out. Enjoy! ☕︎

WEEK #5 Overview

Can you believe we’re already past the one-third mark of the event? It’s flown by so fast! As per usual, some survived and some fell. The Week #5 elimination zone claimed another 4 teams and 15 individuals, which means we headed into Week #6 with 42 teams and 144 solo contenders remaining from the original 70 teams and 306 individuals.

Looking at the numbers this week, the cutoff for both team and solo didn’t shift much compared to Week #4. The team survival target rose slightly from roughly 3,810 points to around 3,830, while the solo minimum nudged up from about 500 to 580 points.

TEAM COMPETITION

The Week #5 team competition proceeded at a steady pace, feeling less tense at the top than last week. My team, Neradodaren, ****put on a stellar performance, fueled by a huge contribution from Timpurnat. We easily won our fourth “Period Winner” badge with a massive 18,115 points - our newest second-best score! Coming in second was our usual rival, The Hollow Hive, who finished with 10,812 total points. Their most dedicated member, Pelziowo, earned the bulk of that score, by again playing newly released games. It’s going to be interesting to see how he handles the upcoming decay. The third-place spot went to Dazzacrew (7,425 pts), who climbed up a rank from last week. This week’s biggest surprise, though, was Gordon Sumner (7,124 pts) grabbing fourth place - the same team that barely survived the last period. What a spectacular comeback! Rounding out the top five was a team we haven’t seen in a while - Decay St. Johns, scoring 7,115 pts.

This period, 7 teams used their bonuses to secure better positions on the leaderboard. One such team was Team Why-Always-Sud, who used two bonuses to survive, adding 2,000 bonus points to their 2,668 points. Good call.

Surviving the elimination zone by a nose was the lucky Team steel_vanguard96, who earned the "Whew! That Was Close!" badge with 3,828 points. On the flip side, the unfortunate team below the cutoff was SuschisForFree (3,773 pts). You know what that means? No more free sus(c)hi! Darn. Two other teams who parted with the event were Team stift1000 (1,071 pts +2,000), who despite their best effort to save themselves with bonuses, didn’t make it out of the elimination zone, and Team KOCrafter1021 (2,272 pts), who had skillfully dodged elimination for the past two weeks, but this time their luck ran out, and they perished in last place.

INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION

We’re five weeks into the competition, so it’s only natural that some start to feel the creeping burnout. But that certainly doesn’t include Timpurnat, who casually adds more fuel to the fire and happily dances around it. This week, he not only won another “Period Winner” badge, but also set his new second-best score of 11,170 points. Gj!

Second place was secured by Wolfmothar (5,193 points), who climbed two ranks from last week’s fourth-place spot. He did it by dusting off his backlog and earning five platinum trophies.

The third spot went to I-SilentEcho-I (4,118 pts), with Bersrqr (4,040 pts) taking fourth place, and Void-After-Dark closing out the top five with 3,646 pts.

A total of 16 players used their bonuses this week to secure their standing. The most interesting case was Why-Always-Sud, who with a score of -403 points had to burn almost all of his bonuses (1500 points) just to survive. Without his foresight, he would have been eliminated for sure.

This week’s lucky survivor was theneutralzone, who earned the "Whew! That Was Close!" badge. With a base score of just 87 pts, he managed to pull himself out of the elimination zone with a 1000-point bonus. In contrast, TheDoctorZack (572 pts) sank just below the cutoff with all of his unused bonuses. While he’s out of the solo competition, his journey isn’t over yet: he’s still part of his well-faring team - Crewbacca.

The very last place was taken by BigJay430, who finished with a negative score of -148 points.

BONUSES & GAMES

Week #5 bonuses were quite demanding. Solo contenders were given an opportunity to face a difficult trivia challenge, while in teams, every member had to contribute evenly to earn the bonus.

Solo bonuses:

  1. Snake Eater - worth 500 TT
